1. My opinion of Amir now is that Amir has redeemed himself. Amir has returned to America with Sohrab, his half-brother's son, as Rahim Kahn had asked him to. After years of not being able to sleep and feeling guilty for what he let happen to Hassan, Amir can finally feel at peace and be relaxed with himself.
ReplyDelete2.The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is that when Amir and Hassan were young boys, Amir did all the kite fighting while Hassan always ran the kite for Amir; Now, Amir still fought the kite and had cut it out of the sky, but Amir also was the one to run the kite as well. Amir does this as a way of showing that is at peace with what happened that day in the winter of 1975. He can feel at ease knowing that he has tried to redeem himself and he has succeed at it.
3. I believe that Baba would be proud of Amir now. Amir has grown a lot since Baba's death and he has changed as well. Is Amir an exact copy of Baba? No he is not and he never will be; However, if Baba were still alive, I believe that Baba would see a little of himself in Amir now after all these years and I think that would be enough to make Baba proud of his son.
4.In my eyes, I believe that Amir has done all he can do to try and redeem himself. He went back to his home country after he had fled it many years before. He returned to that country and faced one of his biggest fears of his childhood and the man that had haunted him for years because of what he did to his friend. Amir did all of this to try and save Hassan's son Sohrab as a way for Amir to become good again and redeem himself for what he let happen in the alleyway to Hassan.
5. I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I did not have many dislikes with it besides for the few times that the book was slow and most of it was just talking between the character's; however, these parts are still necessary to building the story of the book so they must be in there. I enjoyed how the book left me at hanging points during chapters, making me what to continue reading on until I could finally find out what happened to a certain character in the book. I also enjoyed getting to imagine what Afghanistan use to look like before all the wars had destroyed it and turned it into rubble. I would recommend this book for someone who likes stories about Afghanistan or who would like the overall idea of the book as well.
1- I think Amir is still the good person that he was when he was younger. I love how at the end of the book he ran the kite for Sohrab, it is like he is repaying Hassan that way and I thought that was a good thing to have happen for Amir. Amir turned out a lot better than I thought he was going to, I figured he was just going to be depressed throughout the whole book but instead he found happiness.
ReplyDelete2- Amir ran the kite for Sohrab to basically live through Hassan in a way. Also it was to "repay" Hassan. But I took it as Amir living through Hassan so that Amir could be happy while running the kite, especially since the last time he ran the kite in Kabul Hassan was sexually assaulted and Amirs guilt started. I think that part in the book was the point when Amir finally got over his guilt.
3- I think that Baba would be very proud of Amir and how his life turned out. Amir had a nice living in the U.S., he had a nice girl in his life, a home, a job. And Amir worked for those things and Babe liked that, because that is how Baba was. Babe would be most proud of how Amir took in Sohrab, like a child basically, because in a sense Amir and Sohrab are in a way like Baba and Hassan.
4- I believe that Amir does redeem himself. He redeemed himself by going out and finding Sohrab and taking him in and treating him like his own child. He redeemed himself the most by running the kite for Sohrab, Hassan would have been so happy to see Amir doing that with Sohrab.
5- I thought it was a great novel, I really liked the overall connection of Hassan and Amir because in the beginning you did not know that they were brothers but they acted like it and then in the middle of the book it takes a 360 turn and you find out that they are brothers. I really liked how the book turned out with Amir running the kite for Sohrab, I thought that was a really good part in the novel, because I can only imagine what that feeling was like for Amir to finally get over his guilt, and to do it with Sohrab who was a piece of Hassan
1. Now my thoughts on Amir have changed. Before the last chapters, I thought Amir was very selfish and ungrateful. He was selfish and ungrateful because he never appreciated what Hassan has done for him throughout his childhood, and he mostly just thought of himself when bad things would happen, like when Hassan was raped all Amir cared about was getting the kite for Baba's approval. But, after he set on his journey to find Sohrab, I came around to really like Amir because he realized all of the faults he had made n his life and finally came around in the end.
ReplyDelete2. Amir running the kite for Sohrab is significant because it connects to Hassan and Amir's childhood. Back in Kabul, Amir was kite fighting and won the tournament, and Amir asked Hassan to run the kite for him and he replied with "For you a thousand times over." Back in the United States when Amir is grown up with Sohrab, and Sohrab cuts a kite he says the exact thing that Sohrab's father said when he went to run down the kite.
3.I believe Baba would truly be proud of Amir now. When Amir went out to find Sohrab he finally stood up for himself and did the right thing, just like Baba would do. Baba would also be proud of Amir because he realized the importance of family and when he came to realize that Sohrab was actually his nephew he knew he would take care of him
4. I believe that by the end of the novel, Amir did redeem himself. With Rahim Kahn's help he was able to find the way to finally redeem himself and be "good again" by going out and searching for his nephew Sohrab. Amir also redeemed himself by sticking up for himself finally. When he came face to face with Asseff after all of those years he redeems himself from when he was a child for fighting back with Asseff.
5. Overall I really liked the novel. I really enjoyed how things between Hassan and Sohrab looped like them both shooting Asseff with a slingshot. I also liked the final scene when Amir ran the kite for Sohrab and said the same thing that Sohrab's father said many years before that. The one thing that I did not enjoy about the novel was some of the names got confusing because they were from Afghanistan. Other than that, I really liked the book and I am glad we read it.
1. My opinion of Amir now is that I believe he is a good guy. He was trying to make things better with Hassan, however Hassan passed away. After receiving Rahim Kahn's dying wish, Amir went out to find Hassan's son to take care of him like he was his own.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is that Amir and Hassan used to kite fight and now Amir is flying a kite with Sohrab. This shows peace with what happen to Hassan when they were young.
3. I believe Baba would be proud of Amir. Amir took Sohrab in like one of his own, and Baba did the same with Hassan and Hassan’s father. Amir has also changed and matured a lot after Baba’s death.
4. Yes, I believe Amir does redeem himself. When Amir goes out of his way to find Sohrab, I believe that is the moment he redeems himself. Amir never had thought out taking in Sohrab until Amir receive Raham Kahn's dying wish. At first I feel Amir was being forced to go out and find Sohrab, however I feel when he reached the orphanage, where Sohrab was taken from, then he did it for himself. He made sure he found him.
5. I liked the novel. In the beginning of the novel it was sometimes hard to follow along because of the characters being introduced. The connection I made with the book was how Amir felt that everything he did wasn't good enough for Baba. I feel that sometimes with my parents. I feel like I gave 110% into something, but then my parents say its not good enough. When we first received this books I was not sure if I was going to like it, but in the end I really enjoyed reading the book.
1. My opinion on Amir has definitely changed since the beginning of the book to the end of the book. Amir notices the mistakes he made when Hassan and him were growing up, and now feels guilty about those when he hears that Hassan has been killed. Amir takes in Sohrab and helps him when he was taken to the orphanage. Amir now takes offense when General Taheri refers to him as an Hazarah boy. I think Amir is a genuinely good guy now compared to his time as a young boy living in Kabul.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is Hassan ran the kite for Amir when they were young boys. I would say Amir is almost paying Hassan back for running his kite. Amir is allowing Sohrab to do something he wouldn't be able to do if Amir never helped him.
3. I do feel as though Baba would be proud of Amir because when Amir and Hassan were young, Baba treated Hassan just as he treated Amir. During this time Amir felt jealousy towards Hassan and asked Baba if he ever considered hiring new servants. Knowing Amir did this for Hassan and Sohrab, despite Amir and Hassan's past, I do think Baba would be proud of Amir.
4. Amir does redeem himself in my eyes, because at the beginning of the book I was not a big fan of Amir. Amir left Hassan in the alley to get sexually assaulted by Assef, framed him for stealing, and told Baba he wanted new servants. I didn't understand why Amir did this to someone who was so close to him, but after he left for America and then came back to Kabul, he redeemed himself. Talking to Rahim and reading Hassan's letter, I think, was the start of his redemption. Reading Hassan's letter knowing that Hassan did not feel anger towards Amir because of their childhood made Amir feel guilty, and that is when Amir realized the mistakes he made.
5. Personally, I really liked this book because it showed a bond between two people who are from completely different worlds. However, Amir took advantage of Hassan's loyalty to him and that is what I did not like about this book. Amir and Hassan grew up together and I did not understand how Amir could do some of the things he did to Hassan. On the other hand, Amir redeemed himself at the end of the book and took Sohrab in when Hassan died, ran his kite for him, and took the time to read through his letter twice and realized all the mistakes he has made. In Kabul, Amir had it easy. He had the money, a big house, servants, never saw the real Kabul. When Baba and Amir made the move to America, they experienced the struggle that they did not have to go through in Kabul. They did not have the money they had in Kabul or the house they had in Kabul. This was what I liked most about the book, was that Amir finally experienced the way Hassan lived.
Even from the beginning of the big I never wanted to condemn Amir for his actions by the ally. I never thought Amir was to blame for not standing up for Hassan against the rapists. However, I do believe that he has done the best he can by saving Sohrab and bringing him into America. It seems to me that Amir never really got the hang of being an adult until he set his mind on bringing Sohrab back at nearly forty years of age. In other words, the time Amir spent in Afghanistan, and meeting Assef again, caused Amir to truly grow up and stand up for who he is and what he wants.
ReplyDeleteWhen we look back, the last great moment that Hassan and Amir shared was directly after the kite flying tournament. Hassan said to Amir, “for you a thousand times over.” This line was significant, meaning that he was devoted to Amir and would run a thousand final kites if it would make Amir happy. Fast forwarding into the future, we now see Amir running a kite for Hassan’s child. Just as Hassan once said to Amir, Amir says to Sohrab, “for you a thousand times over.” To me this truly speaks that Amir plans to serve Sohrab with the same undying loyalty that Hassan served Amir with. The other main significance of Amir running the kite is that Amir was never the runner when he was a child. He always did the directing of the kite.
Baba would rejoice knowing that his son has made up for both of their misdeeds. Rescuing Sohrab from the depths of bloody Afghanistan is the greatest atonement Amir could ever perform for Hassan’s family. For much of his life, Baba spent trying to be good to Ali and Hassan because of how he felt he had disgraced them. Then throughout much of Amir’s life, he also felt he had sins to atone for. By bringing back Sohrab, I believe Amir has succeeded in ending both their strife. I also think Baba would be proud to see his child finally grown into a man who is worth something. Amir finally became a child that Baba would want to show off to others by being so honorable.
Redemption is tricky to come by. In reality, the only person who knows whether they have achieved redemption is the person who had felt the need for it in the first place. Despite that, I think providing a better life for Sohrab, the child of his half-brother, is absolutely worthy of being called redemption. He gave life back to a family member, when he was young he had taken that chance for a good life away from not only Hassan, but also Sohrab.
The first time I read the book, I was slightly disturbed by the images it provides. However, I have grown in the last several years and feel that his novel is a great show of many universal themes. The Kite Runner provides a view into a land that most people today have discussed without ever understanding its culture. I also believe that this book is a wonderful display for how deep friendship can run, and what guilt can drive a man to do. I really have nothing to dislike bout this book due to how well it pulls the reader into wanting to get to the end.
1. What is your opinion of Amir now? Be specific.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion of Amir now has changed from the beginning of the book. Amir stated in the beginning of the book, "There is a way to be good again." He was an innocent boy who wanted to make his father happy. Although Hassan was better than him at everything Amir betrayed Hassan for the happiness of his father. Now as I finished the story Amir has changed because of the news he found out about Hassan. He has been through a lot, seeing his family die in front of him. So he begins to run the kite down for Sohrab. Amir is now learning and caring. As Hassan said," for you a thousand times over." Now Amir hears himself saying that to Sohrab. He took the place of his good brother, Hassan.
2. Explain the significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab.
This is truly significant of Amir running the kite for Sohrab because he tries his hardest to change his life around and make it better. "Sohrab, I cant give you your old life back, I wish I could. But I can take you with me. That was what i was coming in the bathroom to tell you. You have a visa to go America, to live with me and my wife. It's true. I promise." Amir protects Sohrab just like Hassan protected Amir when he was younger.
3. Would Baba be proud of Amir now? Explain.
Babe would be proud of Amir now. Amir would have seen Baba's happiness if he would have been there today. Amir has changed his life around with no one there to see it but everyone notices Amir's change and everyone is proud of him. He takes care of Sohrab and makes sure he is safe and not lonely. Amir is now following in his brother's footsteps.
4. In your eyes, does Amir redeem himself? Explain.
Yes, I definitely believe Amir redeems himself. "I remember the way your father checked the wind was to kick up dust with his sandal, see which way the wind blew it. He knew a lot of little tricks like that." Amir was telling Sohrab stories of his father. He was now catching himself doing these things just like Hassan had done once, and when he asked to run that kite down, he did just like Hassan did for Amir once. That truly changed my whole aspect of Amir because now I definitely feel he has changed his life in a better way.
5. What is your opinion of the novel? Explain your likes, dislikes, connections, etc. Be specific.
I really enjoyed this novel. Although it didn't always keep myself on my feet but the whole second half of the book with the truths that came out and then the finally scene of Amir running the kite down for Sohrab really made it a happy ending. The great thing about, The Kite Runner, was I was able to picture it very clearly everything that happened or the setting it was at. It felt like sometimes I was there running the kite down or at sad scenes that happened in the book.
1.My opinion of Amir now is a little better then it was earlier in the novel because of what Amir did for Sohrab. At the end of the novel when Amir flew the kite for sohrab it was a magical moment. On page 370 when they are flying the kites Amir says "behind us people cheered. Whistles and applause broke out. The last time I had felt a rush like this was that day in the winter of 1975, just after I had cut the last kite." This was a very interesting ending to the book.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is that running the kites was there favorite activity to do as a child. I think that Amir feels like he is a kid again. He is remembering his life in Afghanistan and how much better his life is in America right now. Also Amir was trying to repay Hassan. Hassan always ran the kite when the were little kids. Amir is trying to be a good person.
3. I believe that Baba would be very proud of Amir now because Amir has grown much more as a person. Amir has a much better life in America and he has a job. I believe that Baba would be very proud of the way that Amir took Sohrab to America and cared for him. This was a very nice thing for Amir to do and It shows how kind hearted Amir is.
4. I think that Amir does redeem himself when he ran the kite for Sohrab because Hassan used to run the kite for Amir. I believe that Hassan would have been very happy to see Amir do this for Sohrab. Amir also redeemed himself when he took Sohrab in and brought him to America for a better life.
5. I thought that this was a great book. It tells a great story about friendship, guilt and the relationship between fathers and sons. There is a lot of unexpected things that happen in the novel and there are a lot of events that make want to just keep reading. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 because of the great story that it tells.
1. My opinion of Amir now is that he has finally grown up and took charge. I feel that Amir can finally let the past go and realize that he is helping Hassan by giving his son Soharb a second chance at a childhood." I pushed open the door. Stepped into the bathroom. Suddenly I was on my knees, screaming. Screaming through my clenched teeth. Screaming until I thought my throat would rip and my chest explode." Amir genuinely cares for Soharb and after the accident would do anything to save him from death, he wants him to have a good life.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Soharb is that it refers back to when Hassan ran the kite for Amir and was attacked in the alley way. " He stopped, turned. He cupped his hands around his mouth. For you a thousand times over! he said. The he smiled his Hassan smile and disappeared around the corner." Amir wanted to make up for what happened that day and in a way do what Hassan has always done for him.
3. I believe that Baba would be proud of Amir, Baba would be proud of Amir because Amir finally realizes what it is like to be good again. Amir couldn't get the chance to apologize to Hassan or even talk to him but he could do something that would mean the world to him and save his sons life and let Soharb have a childhood unlike all the other Afghan kids. Baba would also be proud of Amir because he is a man and stands up for what he believes in.
4.I believe that Amir does redeem himself. Amir has gone through hell to save and keep Sohrab healthy and happy. He realizes his mistakes in the past and wants to make up for them. Towards the end of the book when Amir is about to run the kite down for Sohrab , Amir says " For you, a thousand times over". Amir is saying that to Hassan, he is finally telling him that he would do anything for their friendship and finally realizes how much their friendship meant to him.
5. I myself enjoyed the novel, I loved the themes and the big picture of the book. In the book Amir stole, he lied and even let down his best friend that was later to be found out Hassan was actually his brother too. Amir felt a tremendous amount of guilt and thought he would never be a man and be able to stand up for something. But at the end of the novel Amir was given the chance to be "Good again", something that he needed in his life to forgive himself of his sins. My favorite line in this book is " I ran. A grown man running with a swarm of screaming children. But I didn't care. I ran with the wind blowing in my face, and a smile as wide as the Valley of Panjsher on my lips. I ran." This is my favorite saying because Amir finally realizes that he is free and he is no longer cursed with guilt, he has his friendship back with Hassan, his brother and he loves him.
1. My opinion of Amir now is I think he does realize that he messed up but I think he wants to change for the good and not the bad. I feel that Amir can finally move on with his life and start doing better things and not having that feeling or regret anymore.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is that it refers back to when Hassan had to go get the kite for him and what happened to Hassan. He wanted to make up for what terrible thing happened to Hassan and do the right thing like what Hassan did for Amir all of his life. So overall Amir truly wants to make a difference and be a better person and do more positive things.
3. Yes, I think Baba would totally be proud of Amir because Amir is changing and helping out by taking care of Hassan's son and actually being there for him with his struggles like when Sohrab was cutting himself because he didn't want to go back to the orphanages. Amir did whatever he could to be there and make a positive difference in his nephew's life.
4. I believe Amir does redeem himself in a more positive way with many things but the biggest one was helping out with Sohrab because if Amir wasn't there to help him when Sohrab was cutting himself then Sohrab would have been dead. Plus he flew a kite with him like Hassan and Amir did when they were kids. But this time Amir went to go get the kite for him which is a big step because now Amir is trying to make up for what happened that day Hassan got raped.
5. I kind of liked the book but I don't think I would read it again, I just seemed confusing and hard to understand at times but overall the book was excellent and had a very powerful message in it. But the one thing I didn't like about the book is that is was very graphic when Hassan was getting raped and when Sohrab was cutting himself.
1. My opinion about Amir has changed greatly. He has done some bad things in his early life but now he has changed and grown up into a great gentleman. When Amir was younger he was trying to impress his father in so many ways he keeps trying and never gives up. He ends up winning a kite fight and impresses his father but when Hassan goes to get the kite for Amir, Hassan gets attacked by Assef and his gang in an alley. Amir just sits back and watches not knowing what to do. Amir and his wife are adopting Hassan's son, Sohrab, to get him into America. Amir feels like Sohrab has had a rough life so far so Amir is taking him under his wing. Amir has changed so much from when he did not know what to do for Hassan in the alley to adopting Hassan's son, after Hassan dies to get him out of an orphanage and into America. I believe Amir has changed greatly in a good way.
ReplyDelete2. Amir runs to get the kite for Sohrab to live in the absence of Hassan. Amir feels like now he knows how Hassan lived his life being a kite runner so Amir is technically paying back his old memory by doing a good deed for Hassan's son. Also Amir explained to Sohrab how he can not give him back his old life but he wants to take Sohrab and make his live from now on as fun as interesting as possible.
3. Yes, I believe Baba would be very proud of Amir now. If Baba was still here to see all the accomplishments and how far Amir has come with his life Baba's eyes would not believe what they see. When Amir and Baba still lived in Afghanistan and when Amir wanted to get read of Hassan and the servants Baba said no because they were like family and you can not get read of family. Well now Amir has changed and he has adopted Sohrab and Baba would be very proud on that aspect because instead of getting read of something Amir has done good and adopted Sohrab to make Sohrab's life better.
4. In my eyes yes Amir redeems himself. I believe since Amir has learned from all his mistakes back when he was a younger child he has redeemed himself in many different ways. When Amir sees Hassan in the alley getting beat up he just turns and walks away, but now today he is being the kite runner for Hassan's son, Sohrab. Amir also told his father he wanted to get read of his servants back in the day and get new ones but now today he just adopted Sohrab into America to get him out of the orphanage. I believe throughout the story Amir has many ways that he redeems himself.
5. At the beginning of the novel I did not like it at all because I thought it was very slow and boring, but towards the end it started to pick up and get more interesting. When all the truths came out in the end I was really confused that Amir and Hassan were brothers but when I tied it back into the story when Amir wanted to get read of his servants but Baba said no because they are like family Baba was hinting towards something that Amir nor the readers knew until the end of the story. I liked the story towards the end but in the beginning I did not like the story at all it was too slow paced and I just had no way of getting myself interested in the story at all. In the end though the story was more my paced and I liked the end of the story.
1. I now have a little bit more respect for Amir. He is still a coward and doesn't even fight back when Assef is basically beating him to death he just laughs because he dwells on the past so much that he believes he deserves to be beaten. A small child is what ended up saving his life, but he still did travel down to rescue Sohrab.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is Hassan ran the kites for Amir all the time when they were younger. Before Amir ran the kite for Sohrab he said for you a thousand times over. This is a symbol of their friendship to come and the loyalty Amir intends to have towards Sohrab to keep him safe. Hassan also said those same words to Amir right before he got raped to save a kite for Amir.
3. I think that Baba would be proud of Amir now because he is married and has become a man. Baba would be really proud of Amir for going to Kabul to rescue his nephew, and even taking it a step further and having to confront a Taliban official and challenge their authority regardless of their violent reputation in order to retrieve Sohrab.
4. In my eyes no Amir does not redeem himself. I don't feel that he could ever forgive himself for what he is responsible for. He is the reason Hassan and Ali are dead today and the reason Sohrab will never see his mother or father again. He did go to rescue Sohrab and brought him back to the United States where it is safe but that does not change the past.
5. Overall this was a good book. Not something that I would have picked up and read on my own time though. I thought that the book was at times boring and some things were unnecessarily put in there in an attempt to fill more pages. I am also not the reading type though so maybe it's just me. I did like the fact that the book taught morals and good values such as sticking up for someone when they are in a time of need. The book was an eye opener and I think that people should read it because if someone understands the useless hatred towards another group or race because of this book maybe they'll learn to accept others in their own communities.
1. I feel Amir had to know the truth and what was going on with his fathers past life. Even though he didnt want to hear it he needed to know just because he is rich and doesn't have to do anything that he just can't kick people out of his life. Knowing that Hassan is his brother made Amir think that he should of stood up for him even through the bad times. I Amir has grown up and now realizes that Hassan would like it if he would take care of his child for him.
ReplyDelete2. Amir wanted to make up for what had happened to Hassan when he went and got the kite for Amir. Amir wanted to know how it felt to be the runner and what it was like when Hassan had to do it for him.
3. I think Baba would be very proud of Amir now because he is finally understand the importance of what it is like to have family around him 100% of the time. He now gets that he need to take care of Sohrab because Hassan would of wanted it like that. Amir knows the importance of taking care of someone even though he is a lower than him.
4. Yes, I believe that Amir has redeemed himself because he is doing something nice for others especially a Hazara. Amir knows that he has to do everything he can to take care of Sohrab. Amir took Sohrab out to fly the kite and Amir was the kite runner. Amir wanted to know how it felt to be the one who had to do all of the work.
5. I liked the book. In the beginning it didn't really interest me much, but once everything started to pick up it started to get interesting. I didn't like the part where hassan got raped and Amir just stood there and watched and didn't do anything about it. He should of helped and even though Hassan was a Hazara, that shouldn't matter. I liked the part where Amir is taking care of Sohrab and doing everything for Hassan that he should of done when he was younger.
1. My opinion of Amir now is that he is becoming a better person of who he really is. I think Amir has learned that helping people with life is better than just standing there and looking at them and not do anything to help them. Amir cares for Soharb more because he knows that giving him a second change in life that Soharb will become a better person just like Hassan.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Soharb is like back in the day when Hassan ran the kite for Amir. Amir thought that maybe running the kite for Soharb then it would help him not feel so bad about back in the day with Hassan. Amir was just thinking about Hassan the whole time he was running the kite for Soharb.
3. Baba would be proud of Amir now because he became a better man then he was in the United States. I think baba would be happy to know that Amir knows and Hassan being his brother and that Amir is standing up for Soharb. I think baba was always afraid to tell Amir about Hassan because maybe he would of never changed in life like he did already.
4. I think Amir has redeem himself because he is taking care of Soharb very well to the point were Amir will do anything to make sure Soharb Is healthy and alive. Amir knows that he messed up in life but he is learning from it day by day. Amir miss Hassan and the good times they had together in the past but Amir knows life happened and you just learn from it.
5. My opinion on the novel is that at the begin of the book I dislike it because it was not grapping my eyes at anything. But what I like about the book Is that you may never know what will happened in life tell you look back at life and really look hard. Sometimes you will never know why someone keeps a secret that might make you look at life different. The book shows that living life in secret maybe hard for someone but it will get easier when they know the secret.
1. My opinion of Amir at the end of the book is a lot better than the beginning because Amir matures and realizes all of the things he has done. It was very brave of Amir to go look for Sohrab, while the Taliban was around and then confront an official. When Amir got beaten up by Assef and ran the kite for Sohrab he definitely redeemed himself and made everything better than it was.
ReplyDelete2. Amir running the kite down at the end of the story shows that he is trying to show what Hassan did for him and Amir did it because he felt like he should to get the guilt off of his shoulders. Even though it looked different when an adult is running after a kite, Amir felt relieved and that he did not care what people thought it was for his brother Hassan.
3. Baba would be so proud of Amir because of the things he stood up for towards the end of the book. Amir went in to a dangerous part of Kabul to find Sohrab, he also brought Sohrab back to America to show that he loves him and will take care of him so he is out of all the danger. After Amir ran for Sohrab, Baba would have a big smile because Sohrab won and because Amir thought it was right to run after the kite.
4. In my eyes I think Amir redeemed himself. Amir really grew up and understood the mistakes and how rude he was to Hassan. He did everything he could to help out his nephew Sohrab. He knew when Hassan died that he had to help Sohrab, but it was dangerous for Amir to even go back to Pakistan in the first place.
5. I really enjoyed this book because it shows how people treat others because of what they believe in, also showing how kids really become more mature when they grow up and live in the real world. I think I would have like the book even better if more people stayed alive and did not die. I relate myself to this book in a way because I was stubborn kid and did not like to listen and now I have grown out of that stage and became more mature and understand the rude things I used to do.
1) In my opinion Amir has grown up a lot since his childhood. When he was younger he was terrified of Assef but to get Sohrab, he had to stand up too Assef. In the end after confronting Assef, Amir needs to go to the hospital because Assef beat Amir to an inch of his life. And Amir gained a lot more respect from me when he went through so much trouble to try and adopt Sohrab when many people told him to give up.
ReplyDelete2) When Amir ran the kite for Sohrab, it was his way of showing Sohrab his loyalty, just like Hassan ran the kite for Amir in the winter 1975. Up to that point, Sohrab was depressed about losing his parents and Amir breaking the promise to never put him back in an orphanage.
3) I think Baba would be proud of Amir. Amir learned to stand up for the weaker, like when Amir got into the fight with Assef. Amir know he was gonna lose but he did it because he needed to safe Sohrab and that was the only way to do it.He also never gave up trying to figure out how to get Sohrab back to the states.
4) To me Amir really has redeemed himself when he went to Afghanistan to look for Soharb. He know the dangers but he didn't give up once he found out that Hassan was his half brother and that the boy he was looking for was his nephew. Then when Amir got into the fight with Assef, he was relieved from all the guilt that he bottled up inside him since what happened in the alley with Assef and Hassan.
5) I enjoyed the book. Even in the beginning when it talked about Hassan's and Amir's childhood, it showed the struggles that they had to face and it explained the culture of the Afghans. But through out the book, it shows hows much Amir matured from childhood to adulthood. When he was younger, Baba and him weren't really close because Amir didn't stand up too Baba's standards. And the thing that i enjoy about is that it kept me wanting to keep reading, there was never a dull moment.
1. My opinion about Amir has changed in many ways. Amir starts out as this young immature young boy who doesn't really understand how his actions affect people. I could see him as a little selfish, but he is just ignorant to how he affects people like Hassan who is his father's servant's son. As the story progresses I see Amir grow and become more interested in others rather than just himself. In the middle of the book Amir gets the chance to redeem himself. When he gets that chance he jumps right up on the offer. Amir grew as a person and his personality went from a little boy who wouldn't stand up for himself or his friends to a man who traveled all over to save a little boy. I can see that once Amir was a grown man and in America he looked back to when he was in Kabul and the things he wishes he had done differently.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab is once Amir and Sohrab defeat a kite, Amir tells Sohrab that he will run the kite for him. He had ran the kite just like Hassan, Sohrab's biological father had done for him. Amir tells Sohrab "for you a thousand times over."Amir's life has now come to a full circle. He is now running the kite, not just for Sohrab, but for Hassan, and for himself and the history that they shared. Amir felt like running the kite for Sohrab was one of the best decisions he had ever made, because Sohrab did many things for Amir in the past. Amir felt like this was a good way to make up for it.
3. I think Baba would be proud of Amir now for many reasons. Baba finally had a reason to be proud of Amir when he won the kite flying contest. I believe things changed for the better once Baba and Amir came to America. Amir has grown into a mature adult who graduated from college achieving his goal of being a published writer. Amir marries a woman. In the beginning of the book Baba felt ashamed of his son. Baba was a well-known, and respected man who was an outdoor kind of man that enjoyed many sports such as soccer. Baba just wanted a son like him and someone who played sports. Baba wanted a son that was able to stand up for themselves. At the end, Baba felt guilty and ashamed for what he had done in the past.
4. In my eyes, Amir redeems himself. Amir's return to Afghanistan gets him thinking that Hassan was more than a childhood friend he betrayed, but his half brother. He wanted to find and save Hassan's own son, who is stuck in an orphanage. He wanted to do something worthwhile and makeup for the pain he caused.
5. In my opinion, when I first started reading this book I did not like it very much. I thought it was confusing and not much many events were taking place. Later on in the book it started to get interesting and many events started happening. My likes in this book were Amir taking care of Sohrab and Amir running the kite for Sohrab. I connect to this scene, because whenever one of my friends help me with something I feel guilty too, because I want to help them out in any way I could to. I also don't think it's fair if they have helped me with things from the past and I don't give them anything in return. A scene I did not like in this book was when Hassan was getting raped in the alley. I did not like this because his friend Amir was watching the entire thing and he didn't do anything about it.
1. In my opinion is Amir completely different person from his child hood. After Baba passed away I believe Amir finally became an adult and started to take actions for his mistakes as a child and make things right. Amir went out and found Sohrab and took him in to make things right with Hassan even though he passed away.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab would be that is was just like Amir and Hassan’s childhood with Amir flying the kite and Hassan being the kite runner. The difference now is that Amir is the one running the kite and Hassan’s son is the kite flyer. This shows a little happiness in Amir thinking of Hassan.
3. I believe Baba would be very proud of Amir. Amir shaped into the man that Baba always wanted him to be, by going to find Sohrab and taking him in like one of his own. Baba would have been impressed with how Amir grew into a man after his death.
4. Yes, I think Amir redeems himself. Amir realizes all the mistakes he made as a child with Hassan and tries to make it right with him even though he has passed away. Amir goes out and finds Hassan’s kid of the streets and takes him in like his own son. He grew into the person Baba always wanted Amir to be.
5. I like the novel quite a bit at the middle and ending of it. The first part of the book was a little hard for me to follow. The connection I made in the book was I believe a lot of kids think they don’t meet up to their parents expectations and the same was with Amir and his thoughts of Baba, but I also think just because parents don’t say they are proud of you all the time, doesn’t mean they are not. I really enjoyed this book with the great significance it provides for a father and son.
1. My opinion of Amir started out thinking he was a bad friend. I thought he was a bad person for lying and stealing trying to get Hassan out of the house. Hassan did not deserve it he was a good friend to him. As the book went on my opinion of Amir got better. Amir was changing and trying to make things better. He was trying to redeem himself.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab was that Hassan had ran a kite for Amir and now Amir did it for Sohrab. Amir felt like he wasn't just running the kite for Sohrab he felt like he was running it for Hassan also. Amir felt like it was a good thing to do for him. I think that this is one of the ways Amir was trying to redeem himself.
3. I believe Baba would be proud of him now the way he has changed. He now thinks of more than just himself. I think Baba would be able to see a little bit of himself in Amir and he would be proud of him. Baba would be proud of Amir winning the kite flying contest just like when he was younger. He would be proud of him for helping the weaker person in need like Sohrab.
4. In my eyes I think Amir does redeem himself. One of the ways is when he helps Sohrab and does the kite flying contest. Amir learned from his mistakes and did as much as he could to help Sohrab when he was in need.
5. I thought that this novel was bad. It was hard for me to get in to. It was boring to me. It started off really slow nothing was happening. I think the book doesn't need to be so long the story should be shortened a little it drags on. I also don't like how it is a little sad, how its about guilt and about a father not being proud of his son just for not being like him.
1) My opinion is that he has really changed since the beginning of the book and he has really done some good since he has changed. Earlier in the book Amir did some things that made him think that he wasn’t good friends toward Hassan. Amir put the blame on himself and he always felt bad about it and new that things would never be the same again. Rahim then tells Amir that there is a way to be good again and at first Amir doesn’t like it but eventually he decides to do it.
ReplyDelete2) I believe that the significance of Amir running Sohrab’s kite is because Hassan ran kites for Amir and I believe that when Amir runs a kite for Sohrab it feels like he has Hassan there with him.
3) Yes I believe that Baba would be proud of Amir now. With all the different things that Amir had to go through to get Sohrab. Amir had a lot of chances to stand up for what he believed in and he did it. Amir also changed the life of Sohrab.
4) They say you have to do some many good deeds to make up for a bad one. Well Amir has done that. He is saving the life of Sohrab and with that he feels like Hassan’s always there with him.
5) Overall I really liked the book. It kept me wanting to read to find out what happened next and there were a lot of plot twist and climaxes.
1. This is my opinion of Amir have change over the book. I thought at fisrt that Amir that he was not at great frind at. Because of Hassan always had is back and would put his life on the line for him. Like he did when they won the kite fight. Hassan was get rapped and Amir was there and would not stand up for him for one thing but that was to hard. Then after that was all over and the book move on and showed more about Amir. That Amir was becoming a man. Then he finds out that Hassan was his half brother he when on a man hunt to find Hassan son that was taking to a operand. When he found him they were not getting along with each other. They when thought some hard time with each other. But when they when and flied the kites they just came together. That made me like Amir.
ReplyDelete2. The significance of Amir ruining the kite for Sohrab is that Amir and Soharb defect a kite, Amir tells Soharb that he will run the for him " for you a thousand times over." Amir life was becoming a great one. Amir thought running the kite with Soharb was a great thing.
3. Would Baba be proud of Amir now for many reasons. Baba finally had a reason to be proud of Amir when he won the kite fighting was a very big thing for him to be prod of him. Think that baba would still think that Amir made a great life be a write not being a doctor. He was proud that Amir marries a very now person drought. Baba would be very proud of Amir doing to find his half brothers son and raising him because that is what he did with Hassan. Baba would be very proud of Amir that he went out of his way to help other people out that did not have the chance that he had in life. Those are the reason why I think Baba would be proud of Amir 4. I my eyes I think that Amir redeems him self. I think that Amir has redeem himself because he when and had a name of himself write books. When someone need helped back at his own country he when back to help with the problem and fixed it. He could of say I don't want to and could of sayed you can figure it out. But he did the ritght thing and when back to were we was raised and helped find his half brothers kid Sohrab. When Amir found Sonhrab it was very hard to get him over to American but they did it. And when Amir showed him how to fly a kite with was great. That is how Amir redeems himself in the best way.
5. What is my opinion on this book. it was have good. I would read this novel over and over again. I think that you could very easy have different opinions on this book every time you read it. I like how it show both sides of the fence it was not on one side. It show how much war can change a person and a country. I did not like how long it toake to get to the meat of the story. I also did not like how it went into details on Hassan rappe I did not like that at all. The Novel all so had great ways to get you in to the book. That is my likes and dislikes about the novel.
1. Amir has been carrying guilt almost his entire life. He betrayed his best friend Hassan, and later found out it wasn't just his friend, but his half-brother. When he stood up against Assef for Sohrab, my opinion on Amir changed. I felt like he was a coward at first but when Amir finally stood up not only for his nephew Sohrab he became a man. He not only stood up for Sohrab but for Hassan in some way. Amir learned an important lesson from life and from his own experiences finally.
ReplyDelete2. Amir had many flashbacks of Hassan when Sohrab was flying the kite. He remembered how loyal Hassan was to him no matter the circumstances. He remembered how Hassan was always there for him. When Amir fled the kite for Sohrab, he knew it was his turn to be loyal. To always be there for Sohrob who needs him the most.
3. Baba would be the proudest father if he saw what Amir has accomplished. Amir finally learned how to stand up for others even if his life is in risk. Amir finally became the man Baba was expecting to see one day. He learned how to not run from problems and the guilt of the betrayal his brother Hassan.
4. Amir finally reached peace within himself, the peace he never had because of the guilt of betrayal. He finally found a way to make things “good again”. When he took the beating from Assef he felt the relief that he needed, he thought he finally paid for what he owned Hassan. Rescuing Sohrab from Aseef’s hands, Amir saved the only memory and legacy he had from Hassan.
5. Overall the novel was very good. I enjoyed reading every chapter. The novel seemed to be very vivid to the point I thought I was reading a non-fiction story. There nothing I did not like about the novel.
1. What is your opinion of Amir now? My opinion of Amir now is that he has changed and redeemed himself. I think he has redeemed himself because he went through a lot of struggle to get Sohrab. He also dealt with the guilt of everything. I originally though Amir was a bad person for not taking actions to defend Hassan such as when Assef raped him. After finding out Amir had years of guilt and was willing to do everything to make up for it. In addition, I believe Amir is only human and trying his best. In almost every situation he feels and thinks things that people might be ashamed to admit to but in reality most of us feel that way. For example when he finds out that Hassan is his half brother he's mad and wants nothing to do with Rhaim Khan or Sohrab because he felt betrayed.
ReplyDelete2. Explain the significance of Amir running the kite for Sohrab. The significance of Amir running the kit for Sohrab is that everything comes full circle. By Amir running the kite he is letting Sohrab take control and for once he is the one who does the hard part or the least enjoyable of the two. In a way that's something Amir realizes it's something he should of done for Hassan more often and by doing it for Sohrab it's doing it for Hassan in a way.
3. Would Baba be proud of Amir now? I believe Baba would be proud of Amir because he went out of his comfort zone and did something brave for his family and people he cares about. Also, he stood up for himself when talking to the general. Also, because when he found out that there was no orphanage for Sohrab he didn't turn him away he took the high road and decided to adopt him. The fight Amir had to go through in order to make to adoption official would make Baba proud that Amir never gave up.
4. In your eyes, does Amir redeem himself? Yes because he makes up for all the wrong he did to Hassan but treating Sohrab the way he should of treated Hassan. He redeemed himself to Baba by getting out of his comfort zone and standing up for things he should of in the first place.
5. What is your opinion of the novel? I liked the novel even though some parts were hard to read. For me the book was interesting and kept me reading. The violent parts were difficult for me to read mainly because they were very visual and I strongly dislike violence. On the other side of that it was well written and I could visualize what was going on and had an easy time following the events in the book. I would suggest this book to someone who has a good understanding of world events so they would be able to understand the culture and not have their judgment get in the way of the main point of the book.
1. My opinion of Amir now is that he has became more responsible and forgave himself about what has all happened. He forgave himself knowing he has saved Sahab, and keeping him safe. In the beginning of the book I thought that Amir was a bad person because he didn't do anything to help Hassan and he framed Hassan from stealing. Once Amir found out he could do anything to forgive himself he did just that. Throughout the book Amir has thought about his actions which can be both good and bad.
ReplyDelete2. By Amir running the kite he is letting Sohrab take control and for once he is the one who does the hard part or the least enjoyable of the two. In a way that's something Amir realizes it's something he should of done for Hassan more often and by doing it for Sohrab it's doing it for Hassan. it is what Hassan would have wanted.
3. I believe that Baba would be proud of Amir because he is actually taking care of his life. he is being responsible and caring. He also took control of his own actions because he decided to adopt Hassan's son. The fight Amir took to get Hassan's son would make Baba extremely happy.
4. Yes, Amir redeemed himself because he makes up for the wrong he did before. he redeemed himself to Baba by standing up for himself for what he believed was right.
5. This book wasn't my favorite book, so parts were confusing to understand but other parts were easy to follow. The violent parts were hard to read because very detailed. it was well written you had a picture of the story in your head while you were reading it. I would recommend this book to someone who loves to read and understands life events and loves learning about history.
1. Its been changed a lot from the beginning to end. He has now forgiven himself for knowing that he has saved Sahab, and looking after him. He has never forgotten how he acted towards people and I think that is good and bad.
ReplyDelete2. It is giving Sahrab control that Amir would usually have. Now Amir has done the hard part. Its what he think Hassan would of wanted him to do.
3. Yes because Amir has grown so much from the beginning to the end of the book. Hes finally learning to take care of himself and now an adopted child, Hassans child.
4. Yes, he's made up for all the wrong he has done in his life. Standing up for what he believes in. Whats right.
5. This book was not interesting at all. It was a well written novel, easy to picture, but reading this didn't spark my interest at all
1.Through out the novel Amir has changed so much from the time he seen Hassan getting rapped to saving Hassans kid. I think that he has matured because when he found out that Hassan had a kid and there is a way to be good again he took the chance to go back to his home town to save Sohrab.
ReplyDelete2. The significance is when Amir and Hassan were kids Hassan would always run the kit and I think since Amir and Sohrab defeated a kit that Amir should go get it and it mad him happy to go get it.
3. Yes because Amir has grown up so much since he was a kid. he has a wife and he rescued Sohrab. I think that Baba would be very proud of him now.
4. in my eyes Amir does redeem him self because when he found out that there was a way to make things good again he took that opportunity to go and save Sohrab from Kabul and raise him has one of his own.
5. I liked the novel very much and I think it is a great way to end the book also. because it shows that Amir is happy again because he did something good for his dead friend.
